Last weekend I tried Prasad in the Pearl District. It is one of two restaurants that cater to raw foodies. The other being The Blossoming Lotus. I actually got to go to Prasad twice over the weekend. The first time I tried the Love Pasta. It has zucchini noodles tossed in basil pumpkin seed pesto, with sun-dried tomatoes, carrots & spinach, topped with cashew ricotta. It was quite delicious. I was very hungry so I did not photograph it. But trust me it was quite beautiful. It reminds me that I want to buy a spiral slicer to make my own zucchini noodles.

The second time I went I tried the Fiesty Tostada. It consists of jalapeno cashew cheese, fresh spinach, avocado, sun-dried tomatoes, scallions & green chili sauce on pumpkin seed pesto raw crackers, served with a side of hot sauce & yam rice salad with garlic tahini dressing. It was also quite delicious. There were a lot of different tastes competing for my attention. I’m not a fan of hot stuff, but I liked that the hot sauce had a smoky flavor. My friend Peggy had the same thing and she loved it. She adores spicy food. The yam rice salad was interesting. I’m not a fan of yams, but I found it to be quite tasty. Being on a raw food diet means trying lots of new things.
Prasad is located inside Yoga Pearl. Where at the Blossoming Lotus I was served by a waitress, Prasad is much more casual. You order your food at the counter and someone brings the food to the table. It was a rainy day (imagine that in Portland) and Peggy and I chatted for quite a while. I had a yerba mate and I went to the counter to get more hot water. Peggy had a Harvest Cider which has, apple, lemon, and ginger juice, steamed with cinnamon and cayenne. I had a sip of it and it is a great cold weather drink.
After our meal we visited The Dapper Frog Gallery at 915 NW Davis. Lots of fun glass art to view. If I had money I would be dangerous in this place.
If you want to eat at Prasad, they are located at: 925 NW Davis, Portland OR 97209. Just so you know, their wraps are pre-made. If you want to try one get their early so they are the freshest.
